The Microbial Biotechnology Laboratory at AMYc Biomed 2025

From June 23rd to 25th, the AMYc Biomed 2025 conference was held in Palermo. The event was designed to promote the active participation of young researchers in the field of biotechnology applied to medicine, and attracted over 300 participants from across Italy, offering a vibrant program of presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities.

Representing the Microbial Biotechnology Laboratory and the collaboration between the University of Messina and Scylla Biotech S.r.l., three young researchers took part in the conference: Alessia Berbiglia and Riccardo Galasso, PhD students in the 40th cycle of the Translational Medicine and Surgery program with fellowships co-funded by Scylla Biotech; and Francesco Coppolino, a research fellow at the University of Messina actively engaged in the FRAIR project led by Scylla.

The team presented a scientific poster entitled:
"Selection and characterization of human single-chain antibody fragments capable of recognizing therapeutic anti-sense oligonucleotides bearing phosphorothioate backbone",
illustrating their research activities within the FRAIR project, which focuses on the development of innovative tools for the detection and delivery of antisense oligonucleotides.
